Exeter & St Mawgan/Newquay – Sunday 13th June 2021 (Mark Paulin)

Evening all,

After the lifting of lockdown and the prospect of seeing some different aircraft in Cornwall I decided I would pay a visit to the South West of England to catch some required frames. My last visit was in 1979 so as you can imagine the place has changed considerably since my last visit.

My base for the duration of my stay has been the Great Western Hotel in Central Newquay. A very reasonable price for Bed and Breakfast here and good access to Food and Drink in the Town.

An early start today saw me leaving home on the dot of 6am. A hot clear day with good visibility was very welcome. First stop was Exeter which was reached in exactly 2 hours.

After checking my E mails it was back on the road for an hour before I found a place to stop just before 9am. After a 10 minute wait the reason for stopping came into View crossing the SW Coat near Falmouth

I then continued to Newquay Airport where I did a couple of circuits and then I parked in a field opened by a farmer at St. Eval which is on top of a local hill with a great view of the whole airfield. Noted 0945 – 1630
