Zurich/Kloten, Hohenems, Altenrhein/St. Gallen & Dubendorf – Thursday 23rd May 2019 (Mark Paulin)

Evening all,

A beautiful warm clear day meant for some fantastic scenery today and some fantastic aircraft! It was an early start from the Hotel as I had an appointment at Pilatus at Stans at 0930.

I then headed to Stans/Bouchs arriving just before 8am. I took a ride around the airport before my appointment with Pilatus for my tour. I need to sort out my log with tie ups before I post it so will do that in a few days.

I left here around 1145 and within an hour I had climbed over the hills to Mollis. Noted on a short stop 1250 – 1305

Besides those above there were about half a dozen light aircraft and about 50 gliders present. The airfield is in a stunning location at the top of a valley almost at the snowline today!

From here a further hour through the mountains and Lichtenstein bought me to Hohenems in Austria. A busy arifrield with around 50 or so present, Sadly the Parachute School which has a Caravan was all locked up. So only these of interest to me logged:

3E-KS Sa318 Austrian Air Force*

I-OEME AS350*

OE-BXM AS350 Austrian Police*

From here it was a short 20 minute drive avoiding the Motorways to Altenrhein. A lot of building is going on here with some new hangers going up. The road around the back of the airfield was closed. So these noted from the airport and from the Layby on the main road opposite. Besides those below about 10 light aircraft were on the field.

Then it was back on the Motorway for about an hour to Dubendorf. Noted around 1600 were the following:
