Woodford (Avro Heritage Society) – Thursday 4th July 2019 (John Tomlinson)

A visit to an once busy airfield, initially to meet someone at the Avro Heritage Society, however this did not quite come off.

We therefore had a chat with a few others that we knew and took some general area photographs of the outside exhibits and the remaining British Aerospace buildings presently still standing. We will go next week and have a better look around the Heritage Centre. From a cursory glance it looks very interesting.

Some general area photographs were also taken of the remaining British Aerospace buildings presently still standing on the old airfield site. I believe that these may have been called the finishing sheds? I was told that they were due for demolition, however the price of metal crashed as China pulled from the market and the initial quote was therefore now too high for the tendering company to make a profit. The final decision of how to deal with the buildings is still outstanding.
